Our Story

 Hi, I’m Courtenay and I am so glad that you have found my little corner called Starry-Eyed Whale. If I am being honest, I was never interested in making jewelry, let alone having a small jewelry business. I was a retired military veteran who loved rocks. Everything changed in February 2024 when I visited the Tucson Gem Show. I went to see cool rocks. I ended up coming home with beads. Very quickly I found that I enjoyed making jewelry and I felt I had a style all my own. Not one piece of jewelry in my shop isn’t something I would wear. I stay true to my own creative process. I believe by designing pieces that come from an honest and genuine place, others will feel that energy when they wear my jewelry. I am beyond honored when someone wears one of my original creations. I am a lover of nature, animals, the sea, and sky. I hope that what I do reflects that love. I am grateful for everyone who makes the decision to shop small.
